Centipedes are arthropods in the class of Chilopoda and subphylum called Myriapoda. They are known for their many legs. There are about 8000 species of centipedes, but only about 3,000 have names and have been identified. Most centipedes that live in underground areas are pale but kinds that live above ground tend to have bright colors.
They eat other bugs and small animals. Large centipedes can even eat snakes and mice. They are poisononous.
